411 | The Death of My Favorite Author, Kurt Vonnegut, on April 11, 2007

Kurt Vonnegut Jr. has been dead for more than seven years.  He died April 11, 2007.  That is hard for me to believe, because I remember feeling really lonely at the time of his death.  At that point in my life, I thought Kurt Vonnegut might be the only person alive who truly understood me.  Twice in college, before I knew who Kurt Vonnegut was, I had teachers compare me to him because of my writing style.  I was much more sarcastic and witty back then.  I've become a bit of a bore in the last decade.

Anyhow, after the second comparison, to the same author, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., I decided to pick up a book by him from the campus library.  (I didn't read much back then)  I grabbed the title Cat's Cradle because I liked the name; in hindsight I wonder if it was the subliminal CC that got me?  Anyhow, the book is about a questioning son, who wonders if it was quite right that his father helped develop "Ice-9", something capable of destroying the entire planet by freezing all of the world's water at once.  The point of the book is to have man question the capabilities of technology, and what is just.

It should be noted that Kurt Vonnegut's real life father was an inventor at General Electric, where Vonnegut also worked for a short time.  Vonnegut's legacy is that he lived through the bombing of Dresden, Germany, the deadliest single event in all of World War II, and a completely needless event.
  • Dresden = 4+9+5+1+4+5+5 = 33
  • Dresden = 4+18+5+19+4+5+14 = 69
  • Vonnegut = 4+6+5+5+5+7+3+2 = 37
  • Vonnegut = 22+6+5+5+5+7+3+2 = 55
  • Vonnegut = 22+15+14+14+5+7+21+20 = 118
    • Zachary = 8+1+3+8+1+9+7 = 37
    • Z-K-H = 8-11-8
    • More connections than meets the eye.... =)

  1. Vonnegut was arguably the greatest American author of the 20th century.

    Born:
    1+1+1+1+1+9+2+2=18→1+8=9
    11+11+1+9+2+2=36→3+6=9

    Died:
    4+1+1+2+0+0+7=15→1+5=6
    4+11+2+0+0+7=24→2+4=6
