From firsthand knowledge, I can tell you that the White House has some very sophisticated alarm systems. I sat on a helicopter detail one night and had the opportunity to see the Secret Service respond to a faulty perimeter alarm. Needless to say in was alarmed to see armed men in black appear from nowhere.
