Tony Gwynn is best known by baseball fans as the man with the smooth, effortless and highly efficient swing. What I notice today that I never noticed as a kid, are all of the '74's on Tony Gwynn, a number that has to do with sacrifice and martyrdom.
- 5/9/60 = 5+9+60 = 74
- Tony = 20+15+14+25 = 74
- San Diego = 19+1+14+4+9+5+7+15 = 74
If you take that date a step further...
- 5/9/1960 = 5+9+19+60 = 93
Tony died 38 days after turning 54-years old.
- Death = 4+5+1+20+8 = 38
- Gwynn = 7+23+25+14+14 = 83
The other point I want to make about Tony Gwynn, is that he was born on May 9, or 5/9.
- Negro = 59
- Slave = 59
- Many 'black connections' to 59
One more thing, he was known as 'Mr. Padre'.

- Mr. Padre = 4+9+7+1+4+9+5 = 39
