That's odd. Who bothers to unsub? I mean - really - I only look at 3 or 4 on my list anymore ... But I've never unsubbed the rest -- even tho there's some I ought to. Maybe I'm out of step with how most folks handle their yt lists, but until I take the time to do a thorough "cleaning", they'll just sit there. I DO know that yt has an algorithm that tracks how often I visit those sites, & adjusts their tabulations accordingly -- something about they don't factor in "dormant" accounts that haven't visited in a long time (in case they're 'bots') ... Or so they say. Check out the site NUMBERPHILE (or is it their sister site COMPUTERPHILE? Anyway, it's on one of 'em!) & search for their posts about yt. There's an interview with a yt CEO that's probably a lot of smoke being blown up our asses, but it's priceless in terms of putting SOME kind of "identity" on this 'faceless entity' ... It says a lot when the top brass don't appear to be 'computer geeks' at all, & their subordinates seem to understand 'the system' better than they do. (Because -- I'd say -- THEIR 'specialty' is brokering DATA ... ;D).
ReplyDeleteNUMBERPHILE is an interesting site (even tho they're academics). And worth noting: they're all 'obsessed with numbers' ... Yet there's NOTHING ABOUT GEMATRIA (last time I looked, anyway). BUT -- if you listen VERY closely -- you CAN SENSE THAT THEY KNOW ALL ABOUT IT ... Which is even more props to YOUR WORK -- YOU haven't bargained away your integrity OR been scared off ... NOR DO YOU ASSIST THE SYSTEM THAT KEEPS UP IN THE DARK. Hmm ... Maybe THAT'S why -- even tho I've watched several of their videos -- I've never never bothered to sub ... Lol! ;D. :D
Oops ... Should've read: The system that keeps US in the dark. Not 'UP'! Damn touch screens -- I always do better with the keyboard on my ancient laptop! (And I guarantee you -- the brain functions sharper when you can type two-handed from positional memory, than when you're pecking out individual characters with your index finger. With an actual keyboard & PROPER typing skills, you keep you line of thought intact & see only the words & spacing. Pinging out single characters interrupts the thought process, & scales the brain back to an ELEMENTARY LEVEL. Never seen a study on it, but know plenty of SMART 'IT' people who'd swear to it, because they've witnessed THIS KIND OF 'DUMBING DOWN' progress for awhile now! There's your trivia for the day ... ;D
DeleteIt is YouTube that unsubs people. Every time I post a video, I lose one sub automatically, every time. But when I post sports videos, I lose 5 to 10 within seconds, then it counts down slowly. From there is dropped to 9088, and his since counted back up to 9095, back to down 9093, and is now at 9094...
