Gonna have to read up on this one.
The cost alone of bringing this "Rebranding" to fruition will be enormous.
Usually such things are intended to serve as "markers" -- so that in the future it will be easy to spot the "Before" & "After" products/aspects of the business.
Either they've been (quietly) taken over or this is a sideways attempt to avoid some kind of liability or litigation.
Corporations NEVER DO ANYTHING just to "please" ANYONE.

Found very little out there about this "change" -- the few articles there are, basically repeat each other & take a pretty biased slant praising IBM's history of "leading diversity".

My take: this is a Press Release -- crafted by an over-zealous Marketer tasked with hyping their Human Resources Cultural Awareness Programs.
It appears as though these alternate logos may only surface DURING such Programs -- to serve as PR backdrops.
On second thought -- this "exaggeration" COULD be the handiwork of a COMPETITOR ...
Some entity hoping to make IBM look "bad" if they go public to clarify or clear up any confusion.
It'll be interesting to see if this story quietly goes away or develops into something bigger.
One thing's certain though -- "CHANGE" has definitely been "The Word Of The Week".

Sort of like: "Leave the slowest gazelle behind for the lions -- while we slip away undetected".
IBM has had some rough years financially & has been struggling against a perception that they are "Old & Outdated".
So why not let IBM fight against the Pro & Anti Gay forces -- while SPECTRUM silently adopts a Pro stance --
And avoids the "battle" altogether?
SPECTRUM seems the most likely to actually be an LGBT entity -- especially in "light" of what you revealed about the True Meaning of the word.
Besides -- MEDIA is where they would have the most IMPACT -- not computer products.
I expect we'll see a huge uptick in Gay-Themed Programming coming out of the "former" Time Warner.
Meanwhile ... if any controversy develops over this Logo Change Story -- & IBM stock prices drop -- you can be sure that the Corporate Vultures are already poised to swoop in.
I'm going to keep this revelation in mind & be alert for SPECTRUM's "New Direction".
