  1. The metaphor refers to following and obeying Jesus, and explicitly not the powers that rule this evil world. To follow Jesus is love one another as you love yourself. It is to turn from sinful/evil behaviors/leaders of the world. This isn't is picture of sheeple behavior but actually the opposite, the sheep are able to discern their true caretaker and flee the false/evil ones.
