ReplyDeleteThis was clearly a drill executed as a "real life scenario". The story's been all over the place -- from a man tackled near the tennis courts with a pistol to the final version -- a kid in a black trench coat enters a classroom with a shotgun. There's nothing remotely similar about those stories.
The set-up is revealed in paragraphs 8 & 9 of the article above. The Hero Coach enters a classroom (in a building separate from the main one) & is specifically looking for/asking about the (soon-to-be) "shooter" ... then, 10 minutes before class is over, that very kid appears, wearing the traditional black trench coat & carrying a shotgun -- which he never points at anyone.
The rest of the lengthy article is nothing but praise for Hero Lowe, & Emotion-Driven first-person accounts from "students" who didn't see anything, but were still "terrified".
Never fear, the Superintendent declares, "We are PARKROSE STRONG!" & says the prom will still go on Sat night as planned ...
No name given for the "shooter", but they did manage to mention:
Wendy's, K-Mart & Kumi Buffet ... sponsors of this new type of "Evacuation Drill", no doubt.
Keanon Lowe, it says, graduated from ... "Jesuit High School".
