ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that stonewall is another bad pun. Stonewall can describe action preventing something from happening. Guessing that the date is after 1968 it seems like this may have been an event used to put into power controlled opposition to the gay rights movement. Like the death of Martin Luther King allowed clowns to take over the Civil Rights Movement in general.

They will deface Stone Mountain soon enough. Huge protests there last November and really ever since the Charleston hoax, Georgians have been split about the Civil War memorial.
DeleteThe sculpture started way back in the 20s but due to funding and wars, etc, it was left unfinished and untouched for 36 years until 1958, when the state bought the land and fashioned a contest with world renown sculptures. They finally finished and had a ceremony on 5-9-1970, though final touched werw not completed until 1972.
As recent as 4-22 there have been clashing racial protests and arrests made at the park. I am sure there have been more, that was the most recent I could find.
