33 | Ayn Rand, Born on "33" and Guided to Fame by "33"

Ayn Rand, someone who has become very popular in U.S. culture in the last decade, especially among conservatives/libertarians, was once born February 2, 1905, the thirty-third day of the year.  Ayn Rand was born Alisa Rosenbaum, in Russia.  In 1926, Rand arrived in the United States with hopes of becoming an author.  After coming to the United States, she had a "chance encounter" with famous director and film producer Cecil B. Demille.

DeMille was impressed by Rand, and found a part for her in the film the King of Kongs, where she met Frank O'Connor, who she wed on the infamous date of April 15, 1929.  In history, this was the date of the Titanic sinking, and Lincoln's assassination, two events that were 47-years apart.  Rand would later become a U.S. citizens in 1931.

As years went on, Rand worked as a playwright in Hollywood and on Broadway and wrote books that were not commercially successful until her 1943 publication, The Fountainhead.

The Fountainhead is about a man named Howard Roark.  Howard is yet another name with "33" numerology.  If you've ever wondered how character names are chosen in stories, Gematria might be a very telling insight.

The theme of the book is to promote the individual, over the collective, which is a common theme in Rand's works.  Satanist Anton Levey, who was born Howard Levey, cited Rand's work as one of his inspirations for finding the Church of Satanism, in the year 1966.  If you're not aware, Satanism is the worship of one's self.

Also in the 40's, Rand would become politically active while campaigning for Republican hopeful, Wendell Willkie.  In this time she would become friends with journalist Henry Hazlitt and Ludwig von Mises.

In 1951, Ayn Rand moved to Los Angeles and began writing what would become known as her greatest work, Atlas Shrugged.  In writing the book, she had three close associates.  Alan Greenspan, the future head of the Federal Reserve; Nathaniel Branden, who would later open an institute promoting the works of Rand, and Leonard Peikoff.

In total, Rand left behind a legacy of what she referred to as "Objectivism", and essentially created a philosophy of why it is right to serve yourself while ignoring the collective.  She died on March 6, 1982 and was buried in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.
