41 74 96 | The Numbers on the Duke vs Wisconsin National Championship

The National Championship is April 6, the 96th day of the year.  It will be Wisconsin's 40th Game, and Duke's 39th.  39 is the more special number between the two in terms of the tournament, which began in the year '39.
  • Duke = 4+21+11+5 = 41
  • Wisconsin has won the title once, in the year 1941
  • 1941 was 74-years ago
I'll be surprised if Duke doesn't win.  If they do, Coach K will have won his Fifth National Championship.  Coach K is widely regarded as the best college basketball coach of all time, even without his fifth title.

  1. check out my blog. I did a case study as to why I believe Wisconsin is a Team of Destiny. You can honestly make a case for either team to win. If coach K win's that's 3 titles in Indiana for him and 5 overall. If Wisconsin wins that means out of the 7 final fours played in Indiana 6 will have been one by first time winning coaches. freethinkerstone.blogspot.com check it out for a quick read

  2. Interesting stuff Andy, just read the blog and want to congratulate the work!

    One thing though, Wisconsin has won the title, in the year '41, 74-years ago. To me, this is why they were chosen as Duke's latest team to beat for the National Championship.

    Duke = 4+21+11+5 = 41

    That said, I hope you are right because I can't stand Duke.

  3. honestly you can make a case for either team! it's the 1 seed vs 1 seed again. just like the super bowl. if duke wins coach k has 3 out of 5 championships in Indiana. Did you notice last night the last two fouls happened with 1:25 left which Wisconsin sums to 125 and with 4.4 seconds left. right after they so obviously threw the ball out of bounds
