Recall that Prohibition was repealed in the year '33, the bottom of the Great Depression. As we loom towards the 'New Great Depression', marijuana legalization hangs on the horizon for the United States of America, the much safer, medicinal 'drug', that is illegal while tobacco and alcohol, products with no medicinal benefits are legal.
