People should look into the Paris Peace Treaty of September 30, 1783. In the very first line King George the III refers to himself as a Prince Elector of the Holy Roman Empire. So when did England become a part of the Holy Roman Empire? The original meaning of 'peace' is 'pact' or 'to be in league with'. In this treaty the US paid reparations, which does not makes sense if they "won" the revolutionary war. Zach...look at the video "It's payback time" on utube from last year...to me it seemed like they would be exacting revenge on the US...they have the date Oct 17th...which, when I looked it up, was the date of both, Cornwallis and Burgoyne's surrender to American troops...1777 and 1781.
