In 1970, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Buffalo Braves/Los Angeles Clippers, and Portland Trailblazers joined the NBA as expansion teams. Notice that it has been 44-years since both the Cavs and Blazers teams joined the league, and "44" is a hot number in professional sports this year. It was the number 44 that determined the Colts would win the Super Bowl in 2015 in my mind after their week three win over the Jaguars, 44-17; should the Colts win in 2015, it will come 44-years after their first Super Bowl victory over the Cowboys.
Yesterday the Blazers defeated the Cavs by a score of 101 to 82, just days before Cleveland and Cincinnati play each other for the 82nd times in their respective franchise careers.

In the recent World Series, it turned out the number "53" was huge in the Giants win, who collected their third title in five years on 10/29/14. Sherman Jones who played for the Giants, and later became the Mayor of Kansas City, also pitched in the World Series in 1961, 53-years before the Giants most recent win.
