It disappeared on the 67th day of the year, March 8....
9/23/2015 = 9+23+20+15 = 67....

    Nice going with this alternative. Using the same logic, here are a few more:

    9/18/1947 CIA Founded - 3 months, 13 days (six hundred threescore and six)
    1/20/1981 End of Iran Hostages - 11 months, 11 days

    6/5/2014 SPU Shooting - 6 months, 26 days
