    The original title was: "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life"

      Wikipedia says that the "short" title was changed on the sixth edition in 1872 to "The Origin of Species". I don't know if that has any significance, but wanted to mention that.
