In the sixty-eight professional basketball championships that have been played, the Lakers, both while in Minnesota and Los Angeles, have participated in thirty-one of them. In those thirty-one championships, they have won sixteen. It should be noted that the Lakers have only existed for sixty-six of those years however, and won the championship their first year in the league, 1948-49. That means the Lakers have been in nearly half the championships in the time they have been in the league, and won almost a quarter of them.
