Now that the Super Bowl is set, some significant numbers are very much in focus. Notice that Seattle and New England entered the playoffs as the one seeds in their respective conferences. They also both entered the playoffs with 12-4 records; emphasis on 12.
Since entering, both teams have won twice more, giving them records of 14-4 including the postseason.
- Patriots defeated, Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts. (Baltimore Colts won Super Bowl 44-Years Ago)
- Seahawks defeated Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers
- Both teams are currently 14-4
This is significant for multiple reasons.
- Glendale = 7+12+5+14+4+1+12+5 = 60; Arizona = 1+18+9+26+15+14+1 = 84; Glendale, Arizona = 144
- There is much focus on "12"...
- 12x12 = 144
- Throughout the season, there has been much focus on "44"
- Forty Four = 6+15+18+20+25+6+15+21+18 = 144
In hindsight, it seems that the Week 3 "44" scores corresponding with the Colts and Ravens, coming 44-years after the Baltimore Colts won the Super Bowl, was nothing more than a sign for who would be the Patriots food in the playoffs. Again, the Patriots advanced over the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts.
Cliffnotes:
Glendale, Arizona = 144
12x12 = 144
Seattle and New England are both 14-4
The Marysville Shooting was 144,000 minutes before Super Bowl 49

This is the second year in a row that the top seeds have faced each other in the Super Bowl, last year Denver and Seattle were the one seeds for the AFC and NFC, this year the same is true of New England and Seattle. It is the eleventh time overall.
