Jake deGrom has gotten many numerological tributes this season, as he is the man with the right name for New York. We will see what he does tonight, starting for the Mets.
SO MUCH history to look back on for both of these teams on this specific date (10/15), but most notably for the city of NY in general.

1939- LaGuardia Airport opens in NYC
1964- NYY lose to STL, 61st WS, 14th appearance in WS for NYY.
1965- Koufax/Dodgers win game 7, 62nd WS.
1969- MSG TV Network, Rangers v. North Stars
1969- NYM Swoboda catch in 9th, win in 10th.
1979- first MNF game in NYC, Jets 14-7 Vikings at Shea Stadium.
1981- NYY win ALCS 3 games to 0 over A's, first "wave" ever in OAK (Krazy George Henderson).
1986- longest post season game, NYM 7-6 over the Astros (16 innings, win NL pennant)
1988- 2Run HR by Kirk Gibson in 9th, LAD win 5-4.
also interesting to note, Darryl Strawberry won his first WS with the '86 Mets and divorced his wife after 8 years of marriage on this day in '93 at the age of 31.
