Diane Sawyer was born December 22, 1945 at the close of World War II, the daughter of a teacher and judge.

Diane = 4+9+1+14+5 = 33

In 1970 she would graduate from college at the age of 25 and immediately begin working for WHAS-TV in Louisville, Kentucky.

After a year at WHAS, Sawyer moved to Washington D.C. and began working for the Secretary of State's press team. Quickly she would transition to working for President Nixon. During the time of Nixon's '74 resignation, Sawyer would be accused of being "Deep Throat". After helping Ford transition into the White House, Diane Sawyer would leave her post in Washington D.C. to help Richard Nixon write his memoirs in California. She would also later help him prepare for his interview with David Frost in 1977.

In '78 Sawyer would return to Washington D.C. and began working for CBS. In her time at CBS, she would co-host a morning show with Charles Kuralt and later, Bill Kurtis. Notice both men have last names beginning with "Ku". That is because "Ku" is a coded "113".

In 1984, she would become the first female correspondent on the news program "60 Minutes". Her contribution to the show made it a "Top 5 Program in the Nation" during the five years she was there.

In 1989, Sawyer moved to ABC to do "Primetime Live" with Sam Donaldson.

In 1999, she would return to ABC News to co-host "Good Morning America" with Charles Gibson. In 2009, she would replace the same Gibson as the host of "ABC World News". During the time Sawyer and Couric were anchors for ABC and CBS nightly news during 2010-11, marked the only time in the nation's history the nightly news has been dominated by female personalities.

June 28, 1990, Sawyer interviewed Saddam Hussein in Baghdad. It was Hussein's first interview on Western television in a decade.^[19]

July 25, 1990, as a side effect of the Hussein interview, the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq at the time, April Glaspie, was forced to issue an apology to Saddam Hussein. August 2, 1990, at 2:00 a.m. local time and one week after the Glaspie interview, Iraq launched an Invasion of Kuwait, which would further escalate into the Gulf War. Glaspie was particularly critical of Sawyer's program on ABC.,^[20] stating: "I saw the Diane Sawyer program 'Prime Time Live' on ABC. And what happened in that program was cheap and unjust. And this is a real picture of what happens in the American media – even to American politicians themselves. These are the methods the Western media employs. I am pleased that you add your voice to the diplomats who stand up to the media. Because your appearance in the media, even for five minutes, would help us to make the American people understand Iraq. This would increase mutual understanding. If the American president had control of the media, his job would be much better."^[21]

On November 14, 2011, another exclusive, with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, ten months after she survived an assassination attempt. Sawyer spent the day with the wounded politician and her husband Mark Kelly and observed Giffords during a speech therapy session. Sawyer since told People magazine: "Of all the people I've interviewed, she's right there at the top."
