By now you probably know that if California Chrome completes one lap around Belmont Park's course faster than 10 rivals on Saturday he will become horse racing's 12th Triple Crown winner.  The Belmont Stakes, nicknamed the "Test of a Champion," is a grueling event that has reduced to glue every attempt at the Triple Crown since Affirmed won it in 1978.

But if you're looking for some sort of omen from the heavens, you're in luck: In the Chinese zodiac cycle, 2014 is the Year of the Horse. Affirmed's Triple Crown win also happened in that cycle. Further, when it comes to gambling, it makes me think of roulette tables, which have a total of 36 numbered spaces, and a highest value of "36".  It has been "36" year since the last Triple Crown.

 

Let us look at the upcoming race by breaking down the numerology of the horses involved.

Evans.

As for the favorite, California Chrome is jockeyed by "33" or "Victor" and trained by "33" or "Sherman", so win or lose, I believe the fix is in.  Either way, big betting means big money for Vegas, and the story of California Chrome is already causing record betting, just as the 2014 Super Bowl did, which made more money for Vegas than the last four Super Bowls before it combined.
