44 | Affirmed and Steve Cauthen, the Last "Triple Crown" Winner

The last horse and jockey to win the Triple Crown occurred 36-years ago in 1978.  The number "44" has much in common with both Steve Cauthen and his winning horse, Affirmed.  Let us examine.
  • Kill = 11+9+12+12 = 44
  • Affirmed = 1+6+6+9+9+4+5+4 = 44
  • Steve = 1+2+5+4+5 = 17
  • Cauthen = 3+1+3+2+8+5+5 = 27
  • Steve Cauthen = 17+27 = 44
The last name Cauthen also equates to Belmont.
  • Cauthen = 3+1+3+2+8+5+5 = 27
  • Belmont = 2+5+3+4+6+5+2 = 27
Again, is it all a coincidence?  We'll know a little bit better, a little bit later.

The horses are set to take the field at 3:13 and the race is set to begin at 3:52, a span of 39 minutes, much like the Gematria of the name "Belmont Stakes".
  • Belmont = 2+5+3+4+6+5+2 = 27
  • Stakes = 1+2+1+2+5+1 = 12
  • Belmont Stakes = 27+12 = 39
