33 Watch | PM Yatsenyuk, Belgium and the EU

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk signed the political elements of a trade pact with the European Union on Friday, even as Russian lawmakers finalized the annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region.  The signature of the deal in Brussels, Belgium, signals Europe's solidarity with Ukraine -- and has additional symbolic force because it was the decision of ousted Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych in November to ditch it in favor of closer ties with Russia that triggered the protests that spiraled into the current crisis.

This deal comes at the same time Russia is annexing Crimea to within its borders.  The events taking place in Russia, Ukraine and Crimea are said to have tensions between Russia and the West at their highest point since the Cold War.  If you have not done so already, please read my blog post from December 8, when the unrest in Kiev began, and the events that are now taking place today started to unfold.

Also, please notice that Interim Prime Minister Yatsenyuk, as well as Belgium, where the deal between Ukraine and the European Union was struck, have a numerology of 33.
  • Yatsenyuk = 7+1+2+1+5+5+7+3+2 = 33
  • Belgium = 2+5+3+7+9+3+4 = 33
Prime Minister Yatsenyuk took office on February 27, 2014.
  • 2/27 = 2+2+7 = 11
  • 2014 = 2+0+1+4 = 7
  • 11 and 7, 7 and 11
As for Belgium, it is the headquarters to both the European Union and NATO.  Belgium is also regarded as the "Battlefield of Europe" because of the amazing loss of life in both World War I and World War II.  It is one of three "33 Nations" of Europe, and one of eight in the world.  The other "33" European Nations are as follows; and they both too have leaders with "33" last names.
  • Norway = 5+6+9+5+1+7 = 33
  • Finland = 6+9+5+3+1+5+4 = 33
  • Belgium = 2+5+3+7+9+3+4 = 33
