We care more about our cars and clothes than we do our fellow man. This is wrong because our fellow man matters but ultimately our cars and clothes do not. The powers that be have largely come to dominate us by tricking us into selfish motivations that are fueled through materialism. If you're one of these people who is addicted to materialism, while not having much concern for your fellow man, then you have a choice: You can continue to be part of the problem, or you can become part of the solution.
The vast majority of people alive now aren't going to become less selfish. Everyday moving forward is likely to become more wicked and people will become more blind to the truth. Flattery (which promotes ego and narcissistic traits),

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Social networking, materialism marketed to the masses, endless fundraisers for Cancer and ALS or whatever (funds going down the drain and into pharmaceutical companies), love of money, love of self, 501c3 church denominations that are
the vast majority of churches producing lukewarm christians (essentially unbelieving church goers that are unsaved according to the gospel's definition of what it means to be saved).....well, I'm just saying the world is deceived and the
truth isn't visible to the masses.
Rev 3:16-17
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
People today do not want to deny their selfish ways. They would rather drive a new car and get home to worship their TV than have compassion on some homeless broken-hearted man or woman or child. Selfishness eventually destroys a
person.
Matthew 16:24-26
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Do you really want the truth?
John 8:31-32
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Do you really have a love of the truth?
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
2Thess 2:10-12
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
