71 | Longest overall championship droughts in U.S. professional sports, Cubs over, Cardinals up next

Notice the Arizona Cardinals have the next longest drought, a team originally from Chicago.

Cardinals = 45; Illinois = 45; Wrigley = 45; Cubs = 45; Cubs last World Series, '45

Let us not forget, on SNF, the Cardinals were involved in a 6-6 tie, as a tribute to the World Series.  Game 7 of the World Series, went to extra innings, 6-6.  Curse = 66

Next season will be 2017-18, and it will be 71-years from 1947 when the Cardinals drought began.

  5. Tony de Lorenzi was the first to call it for the Cardinals, RFG said it after him, which I'm 99% positive he just stole that pick from him.
