The opening gives the false impression that this enormous landform is completely covered with garbage -- yet the contents of an average home would easily weigh much more than 2 tons. If the 4 frozen bodies are included, they alone could weigh nearly 1,000 lbs (1/2 ton).
Good that they're doing this ... but the media is pandering to the fact that most readers simply skim the first few lines, & (as usual) they're using hyperbole to generate feelings of shock and awe. :D ;D
