ReplyDeleteYea, many papers did. I have a video showing all the old newspapers. New York Times printed it the most. Atlantic was up there as well.
DeleteThey started printing it at the end of the 1800s, and a lot more in the early 1900s, just before World War I. They continued to print it until the lie stuck after World War II.
