Last year, Frank Gifford passed on this date after the Hall of Fame Game, the former NYG who played in the first Hall of Game ever played, 1962.  He died 53-years later, August 9, 2015.  The NFL Season begins September 8, connecting to her birthday, just like today's date, as we'll get to.

The weeks 4 and 7 for the Colts and Giants being hosted reminds me of how the first Super Bowl was in the 47th year of the league and this year's Super Bowl is the 47th of the modern era.
